The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is awarded to a candidate who as per these Regulations, has submitted a thesis on the basis of original and independent research in any particular discipline or involving more than one discipline (inter-disciplinary), that makes a contribution to the advancement of knowledge, which is approved by the Board of Examiners as required.
Application form for Ph.D will be issued by the University office on payment of Rs.1200/- or through post by paying an additional amount of Rs.100/- ie., a total of Rs.1300/- in the form of DD drawn in favour of “ THE REGISTRAR, VISTAS†payable at Chennai. The duly filled-in application along with all enclosures should be submitted to the University office either in person or through post. Candidates have to write the Common Entrance Examination (Admission to Ph.D. shall be twice in a year i.e. January and July) and on the basis of performance in the Common Entrance Examination and interview conducted by the school/department concerned, the candidates will be selected for admission.
